Flying Stars & Four Transformations Techniques

Master advanced Zi Wei Dou Shu flying stars and four transformations techniques: in-depth analysis of Wealth, Authority, Fame, and Obstacle transformations.

Four Transformations Overview

The Four Transformations are the most sophisticated prediction technique in Zi Wei Dou Shu: Hua Lu (Wealth and smooth flow), Hua Quan (Authority and control), Hua Ke (Fame and benefactors), and Hua Ji (Obstacle and attachment). Each Heavenly Stem corresponds to a fixed set of four transformations. For example, the Jia stem transforms Lian Zhen into Lu, Po Jun into Quan, Wu Qu into Ke, and Tai Yang into Ji.

Hua Lu represents incoming fortune and affinity, making it one of the most auspicious transformations. Hua Quan represents control and dominance, reflecting the ability to take charge. Hua Ke represents reputation and noble assistance, connected to examinations and honor. Hua Ji represents attachment and obstacles, requiring the most attention, though it also indicates the area of greatest focus and investment in one's life.

Star Transformation Technique (Fei Xing)

The Fei Xing technique refers to the four transformation stars moving from one palace and landing in other palaces. This is one of the highest-level prediction techniques in Zi Wei Dou Shu. The key lies in determining the relationship between the "originating palace" and the "landing palace." For instance, if the Life Palace's Heavenly Stem sends Hua Lu to the Wealth Palace, it means the person actively pursues wealth and tends to acquire it easily.

When analyzing these star movements, understanding the self-other relationship between palaces is essential: transformations emanating from "my palaces" represent my own actions and attitudes, while transformations arriving from "other palaces" into mine represent external influences and what others bring to me. Mastering this self-other principle is the foundation for correctly interpreting Fei Xing patterns.

Self-Transformation and Its Significance

Self-transformation occurs when a palace's Heavenly Stem transformation lands back in the same palace. This creates a special condition. Self-transformation Lu brings natural good fortune that is difficult to retain. Self-transformation Quan indicates innate determination that may become stubbornness. Self-transformation Ke suggests natural grace that may remain superficial. Self-transformation Ji represents self-consumption and inherent attachment. Self-transformation is a critical special case in flying star analysis that requires distinct interpretation.

Three-Generation Ji Tracking Method

The Three-Generation Ji Tracking Method is an advanced flying star application. Starting from the natal chart's Hua Ji, tracking the major cycle's Hua Ji, then the annual fortune's Hua Ji creates a three-layer obstacle cross-analysis. When three generations of Ji converge on the same palace or form opposing configurations, the matters represented by that palace face severe challenges. This method can precisely pinpoint the timing of major life crises.

Practical Application

By analyzing the trajectory of the four transformation flying stars, you can predict specific timing of changes in wealth, career, relationships, and other aspects. For example, when analyzing relationships, focus on the flying transformations of the Spouse Palace: if the Spouse Palace sends Hua Lu to the Life Palace, it means the partner treats you well; if it sends Hua Ji, relationship conflicts may arise.

For career analysis, examine the interactions between the Career Palace's flying transformations and the Life Palace and Wealth Palace to determine career development direction and timing. In practice, it is recommended to first analyze the natal chart's flying patterns to establish innate tendencies, then overlay the major cycle and annual transformations to determine fortune changes in specific time periods. Mastering flying stars and four transformations is the essential path to becoming an advanced Zi Wei Dou Shu practitioner.
